SAN DIEGO, Calif. (June 26, 2014) - The Amazing Shopping Center Races premiere this summer in San Diego County. Teams of two -- friends, relatives, fitness pals, college students, work colleagues - can enter one of the races on July 26 at Mission Marketplace in Oceanside, or on August 9 at Terra Nova Plaza in Chula Vista for the chance to win great prizes.

Advance entry is required for The Amazing Shopping Center Races, which are open to age 18 and older San Diego County residents. Entry forms are available online for the Mission Marketplace Race at missionmarketplaceoceanside.com and for the Terra Nova Plaza Race at www.terranovaplaza.com

The teams will receive their challenges at check-in before each Saturday's Amazing Shopping Center Race start at 11 a.m. Each center's race will feature different challenges to test physical, mental, dexterity and speed skills. No vehicles are required as all challenges will be completed on site at each shopping center. Mission Marketplace is located at 471 College Boulevard, Oceanside, 92057, and Terra Nova Plaza is located at I-805 & East H Street in Chula Vista, 91910.

The following prizes will be awarded at each center for the first teams to complete the challenges:

  • 1st Place: $2,000
  • 2nd Place: $1,500
  • 3rd Place $1,000

Cynthia Gonzalez, Marketing Director for NewMark Merrill South shopping centers, was inspired to create The Amazing Shopping Center Races by the active lifestyle in San Diego County and opportunity to showcase the merchants at two of the company's centers. "We promise that contestants who enter the race will enjoy fun challenges. We anticipate that all teams will complete the challenges within three hours at each Saturday race."
