The public is invited to the FREE Día de los Muertos event to celebrate this beloved holiday on Tuesday, November 1 from 7 – 10:00 p.m. Terra Nova Plaza will be transformed into a colorful outdoor festival with Altar displays, La Perla Mariachi and Ballet Folklorico performances, sugar skull face painting, stilt walkers and other traditional Día de los Muertos activities including complimentary tastes of Mexican hot chocolate and pastry.
Free entry is OPEN for the Día de los Muertos event Altar “Ofenda” Contest. Contest judges include Nora Vargas, Vice-Chair of San Diego County Board of Supervisors, First District, and Ricardo F. Villa, President of the San Diego County Imperial Valley Hispanic Chamber of Commerce and Patricia Campos, Director, California Coast Credit Union Branch Network.
Winners of the Altar Contest receive $1,000 first prize, $500 second prize and $150 third prize.
